i think i know what your talking about....the black "box" like tubing that sits underneath and is connected to the stock intake tubing?...its just a resonator, and can be removed w/o a problem

you should be able to plug those two hoses into the new intake, or at least one of them

Only the one that goes to the valve cover will plug into the new intake. The rest of them don't do anything as far as i can tell. I unplugged mine and when i ran the car i put my finger up to them and they dont suck in air and I haven't had a CEL so don't worry about it. Remove everything connected to the stock intake and put the new one in.

OK!... you can take out the black box and youll be fine.. as for those two hoses.. i think one of them has radiator fluid in it... when i installed my intake it came with 3 new hoses so i took out those 2 and replaced the them.... this is the only hose that should be connect to the intake

... let me know if you nee more help im in class right now ill try and get sum better pix for you

i just bought this recently.. and yeah there are some spots with rust.. like bolts and stuff in pic.. engine has 138k miles.. and i live in MASS.. so its always raining and snowing and shhiet.. the car was pretty much stock when i got it... previous owner must have left hte hood open during rainy days or some shiet..

i know you already took it out but just for reference..
the box you are talking about is the IAR (Intake Air Resonator) and i believe its only point it to silence the engine sound at rpm's over 3k, so its not important?

and the hose circled (in green on the left) is for the FIA (Fuel Intake Air) Control Solenoid Valve, which sends air to the fuel injectors when the engine is between 1.3k and 4.5k rpm, idk how important it is..

if im wrong on any of this please correct me.. its just want i found looking through the helms manual

Yeah I ripped mine out (still have the stock intake tho), sounds so damn nice over 2.5-3K RPM! Definetly a good free mod to do.

Cap it off and it will be fine. Don't know what the box is or what it does but I've run without it for sometime now and haven't had a problem.
