Default d16Y8 or zc motor

i have a 96 honda civic with a d16y8 motor.the engine is blown.i dont have alot of money and i called place about a motor and they said they have a zc motor which is just as good and it is a direct fit.what do you think?

this is the wrong forum, but just to give you my input: i'd would just stick with the y8 because of its aftermarket support.

the engine is blown. get the zc and convert it to obd2, you'll need the knock sensor, cfk , all of this will be donated from ur y8. then boost it

If the shop know's their chit, they're proly gonna sell you a 1996^ JDM engine stamped "ZC" that's actually either a SOHC VTEC or NON VTEC.
The NON VTEC ZC is rated at 120 ps
the VTEC not 100% sure
I've had about 3 of them come in with NO healthy compression #'s

You can get a D16Z6 to run on OBD-2 is you swap over the correct parts.

A DOHC ZC is too much work to get working
