no fire on 3rd cylinder ?????????????
gotta 1991 honda hatch stock 1.5 dont ask why thats still in there but i have no fire and 32 psi of compression. did compress check and found a burnt exhaust valve. question being will a new head take care of the problem?
Depends on what test you used to check compression. Depends also on a visual inspection of that cylinder.
Very little compression will cause the fuel mixture to not ignite. Now, a burnt exaust valve, in my opinion, will not cause your compression to get that low...
But you may want to perform a leak down test to check for cylinder/piston damage.
Spray in a teaspoon of oil in the cylinder and measure compression. What happens is that the oil will sorta block any little gaps or holes that may let air escape. If you compression rate goes up, then you do have cylinder/piston damage. If not, then yes, a new head will probably cure your problem.
