ORIGINAL ENGINE???? How do I find this out?
I have a 93 Also with a B18A1 and my cluster says 173,xxx and mine still runs fine too, no oil burning, but I also haven't checked the vin yet.
Engines didn't carry VIN tags until about '97 or ??
What you see on that machined flat is the engine serial #. The first digit sorta tells you what model-year it is, but you gotta know what year the B18A1 was first available. (When was that???)

Yeah, I think you are correct. The VIN is only on the firewall, the doorjamb, and the dash. The only number on the engine is the B18A code on the block, and right next to it on a manual tranny car, you will see a sticker that says YS1-100001 or something like that (that's not the VIN, it's the transmission ID #). On autos the sticker is to the left and will start with MPRA-1000001.
I don't think the transmission code sticker has the VIN also, but if you have another JH4DXXXXXXXXXXXXX number on your engine and it doesn't match, you can figure out what car it came from based on the digits of the VIN.

they didn't put vin's on them until 96'. but like jimblake said the first number under the engine code will tell you what year the block is, you just have to know what year they started making that motor. for example, the first year for the b18c1 is 94' so it would be like this.
b18c1
134667 The one would indicate it is a 94. If it started with a 2 it would indicate it is a 95' and so on.

I think it was 1990, because it was a D16A1 in the 1st gen Integra, so I assume the B18A was only used in the 2nd gen. 1993 would have been the 4th year of production, so the number under B18A should start with 4.
