SO i bought a 1996 JDM Type R shell(or what i was told was prolly a 1996), missing about everything possible on it, in hopes of rebuilding it...and i came across something that doesnt make sense to me...I tried looking it up on the search and also on google.....But heres my question.....Inside the passenger door jamb, near the striker....It says Type X, and then says interior black and red.....WTf is a Type X?...Does anybody else's JDM ITR say Type X on it?...what is this?...Anybody have any info?..

Type Rx didn't debut until about 1999-2000 area.

 

WELL does it have a sunroof??? Dual air-bags??? Aluminum pedal's??? etc. What exactly came in the shell when you bought it? like what interior etc. You MIGHT have lucked out BIG TIME... or if you are building a race car and there is a sunroof screwed

 

If its aJDM 96 ITR shell then it will not have a sunroof, nor airbags, nor alum pedals.

My 96 ITR says Interior, Type D - Black

I know but his says type X... or was that in reference to him lol.

PLUS if the suspension if on there it will have 4 lugs... I dunno how complete the shell is.

 

Of course it wont have sunroof...Did any ITRs come with sunroof?..I didnt think so....I have pics but dont knwo how to post them...I also have a pic of teh door jamb that says type X...If you guys have AIM hit me up and I can send pics to you...My sn is civiconroids....also it was stripped of everything when i got it, including teh pedals...The car came out of Cali then went to WA, and now is in Oregon...

my friend just went and looked at his JDM ITR..He said his says same thing....He said its just the interior code...

Well it DEF isn't a type X, esp since you know it's a 96 since only the 96 came with the 4x114 lugs... Wait the solid headlight front end started in 98 right? or was it 97? anyways I know it wasn't on there in 96... why would they want that one so bad when they sold and shipped it.... WAIT I hope that you put that cluster in... or else you just bought the JDM equivelant of an LS

And what steelies are those. The one's for a USDM GSR should not bolt up cause they are 4x100 not 4x114.3 are they lude steelies???

Yes. Those are 96 wheels.

 

WELL I guess you DO have an ITR, just not MOST of it. The car and all the body panel's look it, no rear sound deadening etc, but you'll have to check out everything for sure. BUT as it stands the car A: if it is a 96 ITR has the wrong hub's, so prob not R suspension B: wrong gauge cluster C: 98 spec rear on a 96 D: I dunno if the JDM R's had an airbag option in '96 but I bet it is rare as **** if it is... it actually unless I am completely wrong is a USDM RS wheel (no cruise buttons)

This car is DEF an anomoly. If it was USDM I'd say theft recovery... but why did they put the '98 rear bumper.

Any VIN to run... prob not I dunno how you run a JDM VIN anyways.

All the body panel's like the door are R though.

My best guess is that it is an R that had EVERYTHING taken off of it, but they couldn't use the dash. So they put in enough parts to make it a complete rollin shell. The prob is because of this I have NO idea what year R it is. It has the '98 spec rear end, BUT it has the 96' spec rear hatch opener soooooo

You gotta do some research on the car to find out WTF year it is.

My final guess is just that the car is a '96 shell like they said... cause of the rear end... but the bumper cover is odd unless you put that on.

Im sorry to leave out so much info..Ill explain it all...

Right now Im deployed in Iraq, I was home for 2 weeks in NOV and picked this shell up..as it looked in first couple of pics...Im guessing someone else was going to make this their project cuz a UD core support was welded on it...My moved outta my place when i got deployed to save a lil money, so i had no where to store it, whish is why its missing or mismatched stuff on it....I bolted a US FE on it which accounts for teh round headlights...My parents live in a nice neighborhood and i couldnt leave it just as a stripped shell in teh driveway, so i had to kinda make it look like somewhat complete car....I do have but took out the JDM ITR cluster, JDM ITR steering wheel, CLock blocker, arm rest eliminator, and i have power folding mirrors for it....SO i have alot of teh interior stuff, i was just worried if i left it in the car, then it would be gone when i got back in March... The rear bumper was on it when i bought it, but Im sure they added it on....Also you are all right, it has 4x100 on it..For some reason thats what was on it when i bought it...I bought JDM 5 lug from chonger1 on HT and i bought GM ITR wheels...but since then hooked up a friend with it...and i think im going to try to find teh stock 4x114 susp. for it....I bought this as my project car to work on when i get back from teh deployment, to give me something to do...SO i definately have my work cut out for me...I still need to find alot of things for it, wiring, carpet, and everything for firewall...but it will be nice when i get a chance to work on it and take all the misc crap off it again...AND....I would never run anything LS in the ITR...Ill put it back together right...If Im going to want to have the pride of owning a ITR, it needs to be ITR parts holding it together...I swear i wont add random crap integra pieces to it..It will be a ITR again one day....I just need to find misc parts for it to buy...Wiring is my first goal, and all the stuff for teh firewall...a RHD throttle cable is going to be hard to find too, i already bought the JDM ITR motor harness...
SO thats my explanation, I hope it clears things up a little...I appreciate all your comments....and if anyone has anything they see Im missing, for sale...Please let me know...Thanks alot
