AS stated in the title, i will be about 15mins into driving to work and light will come on. Any obvious ideas that i just might have overlooked? I tried to turn the ignition on and the light remains off. So i dunno
I recently swapped a jdm d15, and am running OBD1
Please let me know if there is an obvious solution / problem. Thanks

THe only thing i can say right now is that you have a malfunction in a component that is used after your car warms up... So your best bet is to get the code and come back here.

well thats the thing, (correct me if im wrong) to check the codes you would have to have the ignition switch on and have the code jumper grounded. The cel isnt on when the car hasnt been running for 10 mins. Im an ecu newb, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You are correct for reading the codes on an OBD1 ecu. Here is what I would do. Drive the car around until it comes on and then check the code.

Yes you can. Another question for you...does the CEL go off if you quick shut the car off and then restart it?

yes the light does go off once i turn the car off and then back on qucikly.
does the cel stay on after you turn the key off and then back on? does the light on the computer start flashing any codes, you'll have to pull the carpet back on the passenger side to see the led on the computer

ok, so on the way home from work today i got the light again, but not until i was driving for much longer (ie 35mins). I was on the highway and when i pressed the brake to stop, the light came on. So i get home and connect the grounding jumper and it only flashes once, and it wasnt particualy long.
Correct me if i am wrong i looked up a code 1: and it said o2 sensor, is there something possibly wrong with my 02 sensor? b/c the car runs fine, you would expect with a bad o2 sensor that things would be going haywire. Please let me know
Thanks

not all the time does the o2 sensor cause things to go nutz. has your gas mileage decreased? it could be letting the car run rich, also sometimes you can take an o2 sensor out and clean it with some carb. cleaner and a wire brush
*************not while the car is hot, if you can't hold it in your hand with out burning yourself, wait, there is no need to set you or your car on fire, I know your not an idiot but I've grabbed my exhaust before because I had a rattle, and thought maybe if I could hold it still-------, I had no finger prints for about a month----ouch!!!!!!!!!*************************

the car as to meet certain perimeters to set off a code, now when you say it takes 15mins for the light to go on, taking a guess i would say most likely a temperature
related code, cause i have read Honda shop manuals and have read on certain perimeters, they are very simple on the Honda compared to GM's and Fords, most perimeters work off of speed and rpm, other factor would be engine temp, best plan is to scan it, we can guess all day long

02 sensor is acting lazy, replace it and you should be fine. By the way if you ever throw a code, and turn off the car. You can turn the car back on and still jump the connector and get the code. The code will be stored in the computer usually for days.

single wire 02 sensor is what im running (p08 ecu). Ok well i have an extra single wire 02 sensor from my dx motor, would it be ok just to swap the two or are they different?
Update: again on the way to work about 30 mins into drive light came on, checked and got a code 1. So this afternoon i guess i will switch 02 sensors.... any other suggestions?

Hmm I always though OBD1 required the use of a 4wire heated oxygen sensor????
