Default OBX LSD on 99 civic si--install help please!

My girl's si is getting the obx lsd installed on her car at a reputable shop but they said that it is missing a speed gear? Is the stock speed gear suppose to be transferred over to the OBX unit? My tech says he thinks that on her car the speed gear is one piece with the differential?

Does anyone know if the speed gear is missing in the OBX lsd or is the speed gear suppose to be pressed out of the stock differential and used on the OBX one? Thanks so much in advance...the shop i go to doesn't sell obx so they don't know anything about it. In fact they probably don't even like that my girl is getting it installed ...they tried to call obx but they said they were just a warehouse and the people there didn't even know what they were talking about

Any help from people who know would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

if you are refering to the ring gear. then yes it gets used from the sotck unit. its bolted on. i would assume the shop should know this. unless your refering to the speedo gear ? im a little confused iv never heard the phrase speed gear.

umm, i don't know too much but yes i guess its the speedo gear...my bad...not speed gear...i don't know what i'm talking about. Any ideas if that is suppose to be pressed out of the stock differential and used on the OBX unit? I'm going to hear an update from my shop Wed. because they close Tuesdays...i hope all the labor was not paid for nothing.

Yes, i'll definately post up my reaction to this piece if it gets put on...my girl does not have a high horsepower car...just jrsc. I'll definately post some opinions but i'm not an accurrate source of info because i have never driven cars with other LSD's...

i hope the shop has good news for me tommorrow...i don't see why OBX would fail to include a speedo gear if it should be replaced...i'm hoping the stock one is suppose to be used on the obx unit.

Your mechanic is a dork. Maybe he's trying to squeeze some extra cash out of you.

picked up the car tonite...didn't get to drive it hard, tech suggested i break it in...so far the car feels better WOT , before it would spin out fairly easy in 1st at full boost (6 psi) with some wheel hop probably due to one bad motor mount. I think its going to be real nice after break in but we'll see, i hope it lasts though.

Thanks for everyone's response, i'm glad everything worked out!
