Headlights? 4200k 8500k???
Hey im lookin to get some new headlights for my civic, and i bought some e-bay projectors, just ta see how long theyll last without breaking or leaking...
No i need some bulbs for them and what ive found is i need 9006, but i dont understand the k system...its it the higher the number the brighter or what? and if so whats the brightest a 98 civic can handle with its stock wireing?

its color slightly more so than brightness. THe higher the number the brighter, but the color changes along with it also. I think the 4000s are white, 6 are blueish, and 9 are purpleish.
So if i wanted a really bright light but didnt want the normal oem off-white...what would be the best? howcome the 8500k say there 2x as bright as stock?
haha thanks, na i dont want to rice her out...ive tired very hard to stay as jdm/classie as i can...no wing or any bs like that, but right now i have like the kinda blue ones, which are what my car came with when i got it used....probably just get some stock ones....thanks
If you want the brightest. Get 4200k. That is what comes on ALL factory HID cars. If you want more color get 6000k. DON'T get anything over 6k. YOU lose light, anything over that you are better off with you stock headlights.
the last post was partially right, 4200k is the brighter and closer to a clean white light. 6000k is closer to blue, and 8000k starts to turn purplish. 4200k lighting is not on all HID lighting systems. For example the older model acura cl / tl's without projectors are closer to 6000k. If your buying bulbs with color, don't cheap out or you'll be replacing them on a monthly basis, or save your money and throw real hid's in your projectors

You can get some Sylvania Silverstars. They have the 4300K white"ness" and none of that purple/blue that actually decreases visual output for a non-hid bulb.
They have them for many sizes: 9006, H1, H3, 9007, etc....

Um retard, ALL OEM HID cars come with 4200k. The ONLY differance between color is the Bulb maker. Osram makes a more purple pink color and Phillips makes a more Blue. Thats why TL with fluted HID'S look like that color. Those are made by Osram.. The Higher you go on on the Kelvin scale the more light you lose.
