Default Engine rebuilding

I wanted to ask what is the typical price of engine rebuilds. Any recommendations of shops to go to in Los Angeles? Just a typical bottom end refresh. I have been denied from 2 mechanics to work on H22 because it takes too much time and one of them works in the Honda dealership as a mechanic. Another quoted me about $4000. Can somebody please direct me to the right place? Thanks.

Are you rebuilding with stock internals? Because with $4000 you can do some really nice things to that block. If your going aftermarket why not send it to Benson or GE. For that price you can get a hell of a nice build up. You could get sleeves, pistons/rings, rods, new bearings and a balanced crank for that price.
