llCrank pully help
iv been trying to get my crank pully off of my 2000 prelude and it's really tight. Iv tried my neighbors air impact gun still wont go. I know on my old civic i left the car on the ground and broke it loose with like a 3 foot bar with my foot. The only prob im having with doing that on this car is that the front is in the air. Iv tried throwing it in gear and holding the brakes but the tranny wont lock up. Ow the whole reason for doing all this was beacuse i replaced the cam seals so i figured throwing a new timing belt and damm balance belt on a 80,000 mile engine wouldnt hert while i have it apart.. Appreciate any help..
yea, It might take a pretty huge impact... I had a crank pulley bolt that wouldnt come off either with my impact and almost everyone elses impact in town, lucky for me the honda here has a massive impact that they popped it off with
this wont work..
is it a manual or auto...if manual, jam a big pry bar/flathead screw drive in the starter ring gear on the flywheel and hold it still while using your foot and a huge breaker to crack it loose...or you ahvve to get teh specialty tool form honda to hold the pully still and turn the nut...if its got a 6 sided opening then you need the tool....2 holes drilled in the pully, go to schucks and rent a "harmonic balancer puller kit" that will do it

I had a strong air gun on mine once that just wouldn't break it loose. The pulley tool, torque wrench (wedged in place), and kicking the breaker bar always works for me.

thanks for the help.. I finually put 2 and 2 together and thought up taking the flywheel service plate off the bottom of the tranny, and put a bolt in the one of the threaded holes on the side of the flywheel. That allowed me to put a wrench on it so it could wedge against the engine.. 2 extensions and a big wrachet with a bar over the end and walla.. Mann Ludes are pretty confined under the hood. knuckle killers.
