Why do ricer civic(or similar) owners put 13" steel rims with crap tires in the front and 17" wheel in the rear? ????????

 

Better acceleration with fatter tires.

so why keep the 17" in the rear...?

 

Do you even know what a ricer is? A ricer would be an ignorant person that knows not what he is talking about yet, at the same time, he trys to convey himself otherwise.

Smaller rims in the front will most likely mean lighter weight. As we all know, lighter weight on the drive wheels is ALWAYS good for acceleration. (less rotating mass)

Next time, do research before you call other people 'ricers'

 

i think because their front tires wear out faster than the rears and their to poor to by new rubber... just my opinion about the guys who roll like this on the street.

its a whole different story at the track (drag strip) though. the smaller wheels would be lighter, i don't know about the stock steelys though.

Having 13" (heavy) steel wheel with crappy tire in the front and 17" in the rear fits that model. At least to me. Steel wheels aren't that light and besides, if you want to save rotational mass, shouldn't you have light wheels on all 4 corners?? Well anyway I'm not trying to flame, so I'll word it differently. Replace "ricer" with "some people".

 

Putting stockers in the front is for idiots or atleast people who aren't fast. Sure, the wheels might be lighter so you can accelerate faster but with those shitty tires unless your in a bone stock DX your not going to be gripping for ****. When I had a tire pop I was forced to put 13" stock rims, it did NOT make me faster. I spun tire, all of first, second, third, and some of fourth, completely absurd. And I have a stock motor.

 

Yeah ricer is definitely the wrong term (as a matter of fact if I hear "rice" or "ricer" one more time I think Im just going to kill everyone). Doesnt the Chop Top drag civic has 14s in the front and 16s out back? Thats a straight out hardcore drag car... nothing lame or ghey about it.

 

are you talkin about people who do this on the streets or at the strip?

I think that will clear up whether your talking about so-called "ricers" or "hardcore racers".

 

also there brakes are not good enough so they have to put smaller rims in front so they can actually stop.

Larger wheel =higher top speed
smaller wheel =better accelaration

 

I always thought gearing had more to do with top speed then tire size....

I like the way the first guy put it, ricers are people who do stuff or say stuff that they dont know what its for or have no idea what it is. Like saying puting smaller tires in the front is "RICER" peeps do that or at least I have done that when I know that im going to go to the illegals or the track. Thats why I do it not because im cheap or because i like how it looks, but bottom line I do it for functional purposes.

 

 

b/c on take off if the tires spin they arent wearing out their good tires with rims.....front wheel drive...

 

most ppl do that to have drag slicks or radials up front.. and you can have a beefier tire with a smaller rim.. despite their weight.. bigger stance will do something for you

The majority of people I see doing this at the street races, do not have drag radials. They usually do this because the crappy 17's or 18's they have on weigh 40-50lbs(rim & tire), so putting on stock tires help acceleration quite a bit.

When I have a serious street race, I usually have 14 HX's up front w/ drag radials and 13 VX pizza cutters in the back.

 

yea the 17" wheels arent light
when i go to the track i slap the stockies on the front
you loose at least 10hp with those 17" wheels.

 

I would say a ricer is someone who makes the car look fast...but it isnt actually fast. (ie. civic with loud exhaust, body kit, and rims, with stock motor )

BTW I have 13s in the front and 15s in back...reason for this is cause my tires in the front were bad, I havent put on the new tires yet cause well....im lazy.

An even better question is...why to people put altezzas on their cars?? Looks really ugly IMO.

DUHHHH everyone knows you hook up the best with a 145 width tire compared to a 195 width tire.... specially when there camber is HORRIBLE.....

skinny tires with only 1 tread line on the ground = GREAT TRACTION!!! wow ricer logic
