Default aeromotive/sx FPR install

i thought i had seen this covered here before...but i searched and searched and couldnt find anything....

I would like to get the aeromotive FPR instead of the AEM...but i see that the aeromotive uses AN fittins and does not sit on the fuel rail.

what is involved with installing one of these ?

you can either buy a new fuel rail (AEM, STR etc) and mount it on one end with the appropiate fittings or you can tap your existing rail where the stock FPR resides. But remember you cannot use back the old FPR if you are going to tap. All and all, the best buy would to get the AEM FPR. It fits on the stock rail without any modifications.

how do you switch the existing fuel inlet to SS hose ? I looked down there today and it seemed to just be rubber fuel line going into the small metal fuel lines.

the end of the fuel rail should go connect to a fuel banjo that connects to the top of the fuel filter. Buy 1-2 feet (depending on what you need) of 6-8AN steel braided line and have that banjo end attached to the other side of the line, that will cost you about $40.

on the top of the stock FPR there is a vacuum hose, i assume that is just put onto the vacuum port of the new FPR.

on the bottom of the stock FPR, there is a fuel hose...it looks to be a fuel outlet or drain...what is that ?

i looked at the banjo bolt, and i cant see how you would thread an AN fitting onto it...could you elaborate on how to do that ?

-that vaccum hose goes to the vaccum port on the new fpr
-u are correct... the bottom of the stock fpr there is a return line for the fuel
-there is a banjo bolt hose end which attatches to a an-hose that earls, aeroquip, etc. make

is it a good idea/necessary to do the fuel drain hose in SS too ?

when looking at pics of the aeromotive/sx/paxton FPRs...they have one AN fitting on each side, where the stock one only has the drain and the vacuum port, why is this ?

also, where is the new FPR actually re-located in the system if it is no longer on the fuel rail ?

thanks for the help

you will just fill in the stock hole with a screw or a plug that most companies supply with the rails. One side of the FPR will bolt onto the rail, the other to the fuel line that goes to the filter. This is the setup I am running, I will have some pics on about 1.5-2 weeks.
