Default Temperature Gauge is Reading Colder than Usual. Why?

I live in the Boston area and recently my temp gauge is hanging around about one "line" above "cold" during my commute.

Usually, the temp gauge reads one "line" below the half-way mark.

Does this sound like my thermostat is crapping out? 90K on this stock motor.
