Something I have always wondered
Why is it many of the EF's I drive or sit in have shifter play? What I mean by shifter play, is that when you put it in a gear, it can move back and forth still. You put it in first, and can move the shifter back and forth left to right a good bit. What is it that causes this and what is the remedy? My EF I have now doesnt do it, but many I drive do. Someone's gotta know
Thanks.
Thanks.

By every single part around the bottom of the shifter (example part 8,12 ), then tell me if you have this problem. A lot of the times people just don't have the parts at all installed.
The other thing it could be is the joint, the people at rpiracing actually came up with a new joint that got rid of this play.
I know that when I installed my short shifter a long time ago, I tightened #23 way too tight and the shifter had hardly any play at all -- so little that it was even hard to get it into gear somewhat, it took a deal of force. But once it was in gear there was absolutely no side to side movement. But I didnt like how hard it was to get into gear so I backed it off a little and now its real easy to get into gears but it wobbles a little once it's in. It doesn't bother me much at all though, if it did I guess I would try #8 and #12.
