Default Can an IAC leak coolant into the IM?

Just a question... I did the IAC and TB coolant line bypass just for SnG's and yes, the manifold is a lot cooler when engine is fully warmed up, however I always had this problem of blowing smoke out the *** end of the car at WOT... My question is, is it possible for the IAC to leak coolant into the IM? The smoke STANK somethin fierce inside the car, btw.

I don't think that the colder intake charge would affect the a/f ratio to go from full rich smoke out the back to full lean (as shown on my cheesy a/f gauge... shaddap. lol)

Anyhow, anybody got any theories on WTF just happened?
BTW I'm using a stock b17a timing map in a 12:1 forged bottom ls/vtec w/ GSR bumpsticks and shitty header/exhaust.

Not likely

You have to figure out what you are burning.

White smoke= coolant
Blue smoke = oil
black = rich (fuel)

'tis black to my knowledge but it's hard to discern colors of smoke to me... smoke just looks like smoke. lol. no color.

But, if it's not leaking then WTF would make the mixture so much leaner? Could the simple temperature drop make that big of a difference?

No, the bypass will not make it run that rich. It is most likely your ECU or bigger injectors or stuck injector(s) or high fuel pressure (if you have a adjustable fuel pressure regulartor).

stock fpr but maybe it's being goofy? Also, how would I check/clean injectors? I guess that would take much more equipment than a standard garage. The ECU is a chipped p28 that I did myself, untuned really just the shitty gauge and eyeballing things, listening for knock (which occurs occaisionally, but not under WTO and that's neither here nor there)

OR maybe the fuel pump/filter is giving out? the car sat still for about a year starting Jan 2003.

Your fuel filter is old, it is good to change it either way. You can the specs on the chip? that sounds like it could be the problem.

really? How often do u need to change the Fuel filters? it's got like maybe 5000 miles on it.

Anyhoo, the fuel maps didn't change over this course of events, still stock b17a timing/fuel maps.

The coolant just passes through the bottom part of the sensor and can not leak into the manifold at all. The coolant is blocked off. IF you were to actually take apart the sensor you would see what i mean. It has like a block off plate, and although it looks as though coolant runs through the manifold it actually doesnt. Then the sensor reads the coolant temp. and adjusts idle accordingly. hence IACV Idle Air Control Valve.
