Default ? about tuning jrsc for gsr

I'm trying to find out what I should expect to pay to have a 2001 GSR dyno tuned for a jrsc with 8lbs of boost. I searched but didn't find what I was looking for. I'll be running something like this...Hondata's S200 ecu, RC 440cc injectors, liquid intercooling water injection, I/H/E, maybe jr btc, and whatever other misc things I may need to make the sc run flawlessly for daily driving. I live in the Dallas area. Any info or suggestions for a nice sc setup would be great. Thanks

You will pay about $150 per hour for tuning.. as for your setup, you should see about 250WHP+ or more with your motor...

As for your little bandaids like the BTC(not needed), I suggest using Hondata. My setup is pushing 225 at the wheels at 6psi, non-intercooled, 370's RC's and a Kami header with 2.5 exhaust... driving daily for over 2 years now with 0 problems...

I agree, but most likely I'd guess 220-230 whp for 8psi.

Hey guys I also have a 98gsr (stock b18c1) with
comptech icebox w/ k&n drop in filter (should I get rid of my icebox?)
jdm 4-1
smsp 2.5" carsound cat
custom 2.5" exhaust.

my jrsc will be coming in sometime next week. I have a set of 01' itr cams sitting in my room, would they pair up well with the jrsc?

The kit I bought comes with an apexi vafc2 would this be a sufficient enough to control my fuel.

or

would it be recommended that i swap over to obdI + hondata (s100 or s200?)

Lastly the kit also includes the endyn stepper pulley. Ive been reading that it fits poorly. What would be the best and safest way to upgrade boost.

Keep the icebox. I have one on my JRSC'd GSR and I like it alot. I even have the special intake arm Comptech makes for the JRSC people.

I've heard of people getting minor gains from using the Type R exhaust cam and a Gsr intake cam combo...but you might need cam gears to get the most out of it.

The MVM pulley is a nice upgrade pulley for you, especially while the kit isn't fully installed (due to the placement of the pulley and the JRSC support bracket it's easier to get at the alternator pulley before the kit is fully installed.) It's a stepper pulley that replaces your alternator pulley overdriving the supercharger but not the other accessories. Should increase boost by approx. 3 psi. and get you to 9psi.

Or crank pulleys aren't all that bad. JR has a nice lightened crank pulley good for a total of 8psi. Or the CRV crank pulley which is good for 10psi but overdrives/ undrives your AC and alternator.

And a real engine management system ie Hondata, AEM or the like, always beats out a piggyback in the hands of a competent tuner.

I'm thinking about just going back to a short ram system compared to my chopped/hacked Iceman CAI I have now... do you happen to have a pic of this Icebox system I2un?

I need to borrow a digicam but I'll post you some pics asap. If you want, I'm located in San Diego also. You can always come take a look first-hand, if you need something better than pics.

A little off topic, but how much did you guys pay for your GSR JRSC kits? are you guys pleased with the power? how is the powerband? does your car overheat much faster with the JRSC kit? i heard they run pretty hot??

I love my JRSC kit and it has never overheated or caused any sort of overheating issues. I do have a Fluidyne radiator and my temps barely make it to operating temp.

The powerband and reliability have been great for me, I may be biased but I do love it and wouldn't have it any other way...

Traction is a problem because of of the boost but good tires and a traction bar, poly-inserts will definitely aid in traction.

I have a B18C1 and it is all stock internals. I am now running a little more than 230 WHP and 161 tq with my new Kamikaze header and 2.5 inch exhaust.

My next plans are to intercool my JRSC with the LHT kit, send my blower to Endyn for the rebuild, and rebuild my motor after the 200k mark....

sounds good....the injectors your using are the ones that came with the sc kit right? Im prolly gonna get the 10psi pulley from the get go + LSD. Work on internals/rebuild when i use my 50 shot again. I dont think ill use any after market header or exhaust. How much do you think I would gain if I did though? Im thinkn 10-15 overall. thanks sorry to jack your thread good luck with ur plan aswell

With an aftermarket header( Kamikaze with Endyn specs) and a 2.5 inch exhaust, you will gain some really good usable HP. It is highly recommended that you get these with a JRSC.

The injectors I am using are RC 370's, but I plan to upgrade to RC 440's when I get everything else done.

For some really good info on how to make some serious HP with your JRSC, go to http://www.theoldone.com

and search there...

thanks for the link ill definately check it out. For now im stickin witht the stock stuff and see how far I can take it. I dont need anything over 250hp and 200tq because I believe it would be pointless on a daily driven FWD. Keep me updated on your car if you dont mind I got my bottle car tuned at shawns as well. for Church Automotive and for Epic Motoring aka Kevin S.
