87 Accord Start problems ?
87 Accord Lxi 4 dr Auto
Posted ? about intermittent starting
Went through this sequence:
1. replaced Neutral Safety Switch. (No change)
2. replaced Ingition switch (no change)
3. wiggled and reseated cylinder plug in inside fuse box (started flawlessly for two days before symptoms reappeared.
4. Tried jump starting from another vehicle, measured 14 plus amps (no start)
Currently not "intermittant" simply no start. Do get a click on key turn.
#1 & 2 are obvious and at 180K no harm in replacing.
Battery meters at only 12.3 volts so may be low or even need replacing, but jump attempt, I think indicates that's not the problem.
#3 was probably just coincidence and has nothing to do with it, but advise is appreciated.
I suppose I've proven the starter needs replacing but would like to hear from more knowledgeable and experienced sources. And, wonder if there is a way to kick start an automatic?

sounds like it could be a grounding problem...
make sure your starter is getting power... i mean, enough power...
Precisely how does one do this?
The starter is clearly connected to the batters with a large cable.
Then there is a small wire with a "slide/clip" connector.
I presume the small wire is the switched ground wire.
I tried jumping by removing the small wire and touching a jumper wire
to the small wire terminal and the battery ground:
Nothing. No click or anything.
Seems as if I should at least be able to duplicate the click
by bypassing the key and neutral switches.
Makes me think there might be something else in the loop.
Thanks for the response.
