HELP Radiator exploded coolant LOTS OF STEAM
Yesterday I went to pick my REX up from the tow yard. After a friend of mine got it impounded. its about 30 degree's outside. Everything seemed fine I get home and let it idle in my drive way for about 15 mins. Then I jump inside the car to reverese to move it and BOOM steam pours outa the engine bay and anti freeze was all on the ground. I poped the hood and it looks like it came from under the radiator. Can someone give me a idea to what could of happen. ? ? ?Thanks.
? hard to say. a hose might of not been tight enough or
a hole might have formed, if its old, it'll do that. just put more coolant
in it and let it warm up. look for the leak. good luck.

I poped the hood in the light so I could see better. Believe it or not the radiator split on top theres a crack about 5 inches long runing across the top. What would cause this to happen ? Thermostat ?

Do you still have the snorkel piece attached to your car ? Its a long tube that runs to your intake. If its still connected there is 1 bolt that bolts to the radiator, this could of caused it.

If the owner of the car wants me to take the pick down IM me.

See the large tube that is right behind the radiator, that thing. It bolts up on the far left to the top of the radiator.

Your car is 15 years old and its radiator has a plastic top.. This isnt zales and they don't last forever
. If it breaks, UPGRADE! Time to get a 90-93 LS Radiator or a sick Fluidyne
. The LS is a coppertop, more than efficient, and no mods really necessary. - Darrell

I checked my oil its realy black and smells like gas. I didnt see any coolant in it. I dont think its the headgasket. I think its time for a oil change.
