Default 2.5" custom piping question...

the other day i modded my apexi world sport to 2.5" piping all the way back to the muffler.

When i first bought it i thought it was 2.5 all the way back, but i guess i was worng when i checked the actual diameter of the piping.

Well my question is that it sounds like theres is something rattling in the exhaust somewhere. Particully, above 4000 RPM. WHen i brought it back to the muffler shop they told me its more freeflowing making that ringing/rattling noise at higher RPMS's.

any help would be great because it is sure annoying when i get it into vtec. It sounds like a civic with tin can and a huge leak !

pls help

add another resonator to quiet it down a bit.

Just make sure you don't have any holes of any kind on the welds. Cheap welds don't hold too well, or either they will take some time to stiffen up. I had a cheap exhaust made once and it used to rattle for the first few weeks, but now it's gone...maybe I just got used to it.

I had alot of header and cat work done on my car - and I had a serious rattling and buzzing problem. The shop told me that it was "the more free flowing exhaust" that was causing my problem. So I went about having them free up the areas that were bottlenecking the flow. This resulted in one problem after another and another.

Untill I went to a different exhaust shop and had them take a look at the other shops work and told them to get rid of any rattles I had and make sure everything was tight. To end the story - my exhaust doesn't make a single sound it shouldn't!!!

So if your exhaust is making a noise it shouldn't - it's most likely a crappy install

It could very possibily be that the exhaust is touching the heatshield
underneath it somewhere.
Get underneath it and make sure there is plenty of clearence between
the heatshield and the exhaust.

start the car on a lift and block the muffler with a heavy farbic or something...then go over the exhaust path and find the leaks, don't do it for long though...you don't want to back up the exhaust flow too much.
