rattlin and squeekin noise
ok this noise has been drivin me nuts. when my car is warmed up, when it idol's normally i hear this squeekin sound comming from right underneath the floor boards infront of the passenger seat.. then.. i also hear this rattlin noise everytime i shift sounds like somethin rubbin on the exhaust, but i removed both heat shields just to see if that was it and it wasnt.. stock exhaust..
p.s. when i jack the car up, the squeekin goes away. any ideas?

I think it could be the honeycomb in your cat coming loose.
Reasons why this would happen:
1) Really old worn out catalytic converter
2) Bad a/f mixture.
I do NOT reccomend buying a high-flow cat if this turns out to be the problem.. They break easier than stock ones.
How to test your catalytic converter:
Get under your car and tap your cat easily with a rubber mallet... When you hit it if you hear some form of noise then you need to replace it.
Buy a used one off of a 99-00 civic ex or 92-95 civic.. depending on what base model civic you own.
Goodluck

that would explain the rattlin noise.. wonder what thw squeekin is.. when i was underneath there, i noticed that there is 2 springs that are between the header and the cat.. im thinkin that might explain the squeekin noise.. because i see nowhere that the exhaust can be rubbing. theres enough clearance between the header and oil pan, and it cant be the heat shields because i took them down to see if that was it and obvisally it wasnt.. imma tap the cat with a rubber mallet tonight to see if thats it.. any other ideas ?
