another damn idle problem...
i already know there is about a million of these threads so don't be a idiot and tell me to search cause i already wasted enough time but anyway i just replaced all the gaskets on my b16a(sir2) started it up idles at 2k 2.5k 3k which ever one of them it feels like. Now before i ripped it apart it had a slight idle problem but my head gasket was leaking throttle body was dirty as hell it could have been alot of things and it wasn't any thing like 2 grand it would fluctuate between 600-700 consistently but when i blasted the heat it would stay perfect. i hope its a vacuum leak or iacv because i was throwing a tps code after we went for a ride but i messed with it and it went away and my buddy's are thinking my throttle body's screwed so give me some thoughts... thanks
SEARCH!!!

just make sure all your hoses are in the right ports and try adjusting idle...sounds like to a vac leak to me...but i could be wrong..goodluck

first, your idle fluctuating at 600 - 700 is low already. Lower than stock idles. may i ask how did it gets that low or you just dont know why.
CEL displays tps code, prolly the connector was lose while you were driving, so go ahead and unplug Negative terminal battery and unplug TPS connector from TB and SIAC sensor from SIAC. Then get something to clean the connectors before reconnect them back on. (at the same time do the following, below)
If your rpm fluctuates in the range of -,+ 100 rpm you prolly got a really small vacuum leak, in your mind you prolly say, "yeah duh". That right, little leak is a bitch to find.
So, check ur vacuum lines for crack or damage first, brakes booster, iab lines, fuel regulator vacuum line, pcv. Fluctuated rpm cause by unconsistant manifold pressure, so anything that connects to the IM must be check. Usually it not IM gasket, and most likely it will be TB gasket that cause the SIAC to tell the ECU that the pressure of the manifold is incorrect so the ECU is trying readjust the pressure and cause the fluctuating in rpm. So do yourself a favor, and take out the TB and check the gasket, clean the SIAC with brake cleaner, make sure all vacuum lines are tight, no cracks, damage. Torques the 4studs to 25lbs, 3lbs more than OEM spec.
The reason i said it not likely to be IM gasket because if it is, then your rpm will be sky rocketing.

A check and make sure you plugged your pcv valve .back your idel can also be caused by a crimped pcv hose wich could have cause throtle body to be so dity.......good luck ?

does replacing all gaskets meaning you wont have gasket vacuum leaks? i'd never said replacing all gaskets so leak will not be at the gasket
make sure you tq the SIAC right, leak can there too, as well as the FITV, vacuum hoses clamps (push all vacuum lines all the way in.

wouldn't a vacuum leak have a more violent flucutation in the idle, if any of ya'll have seafoaked before, you would know what I am talking about, but when I seafoamed, it fluctuated a couple 1000 RPM"S not just a couple hundred, so sounds like you may need to clean your IACV, or reset your ECU, thats what a guy off of here advised me to do, and it worked fine, i did both, so im not sure which one fixed it. good luck
sorry to bring this thread back but i was away and i now iam back with same problem still no fixed and i reset the ecu .... nothing happened and still no cels

Did you find out if it was actually a vaccuum leak? Does the idle drop when the steering wheels is all the way to one side? Can you hear air escaping? Since you said heat on it doesn't do it i think it is Idle Air Control valve. Thats what happened in my eclipse. I replaced the TPS, the idle stepper motor and thenn finally the whole IAC and the problem has left me hopefully for good.

nah theres no vacuum leak so i think its the tps but iam not sure iam going go test it in a little cause i haven't got a chance to even look at it in like a week
IC33, check out this web site it will show you how to test IACV, TPS, FITV etc. Hope this helps.

Keep in mind not all info will be exact i.e wire colors, but I have found this site infinitely helpful, good luck!

thanks but i have another question is there any way to set the tps because it is spring loaded so when u put it on it springs back so is there any certain way to position it
