Default cage pics...will these rear plates pass tech???

hey guys
i welded these into a car, and i am going to be putting a 10pt cage into another car and i was wondering if i did the rear plates like this again if it would pass tech, or if they are going to be strict about not having a complete 6x6 plate. i did it this way because there wasnt a flat place to mount the 6x6 plates. any help would be appreciated, sorry for the poor pics.

PM the user oldguy on here about it. That's Jim Skelly, the "local" NHRA etch guru. But I'm going to say no.

how do most of you guys have yours setup??? on the next one i might have to change the positioning of the plate so it is easier to retain the whole thing.

Hmm, if they wanted to bust your ***** then probably not. They are supposed to be 6"x6" plates.

No, that will not pass. Its supposed to be a 6x6 plate and it doesnt matter if the bar is welded in the center of the plate or not. You can also heat up the plate and bend it to match the contour of the floor. Basically you can weld the bar to the plate(that is off center of the plate) and heat the plate to match the contour of the rear floor pan.

the plate is 6x6 for the most part minus the parts that you see missing. i notched the plate with a grinder so i could contour it by hand and then welded the seams. i still have the parts that were cut out and i am sure i can make it work so that i come up with 36 square inches. thanks again for the replies guys

Can the 6" x 6" plate have holes in it?

I had the pads in mine bolted to the floor with backing plates, but then I went back and fully welded them to the sheetmetal. I filled the 3/8" holes in with weld, but you can still tell there used to be a hole there. I suspect this would be OK, but I really don't know. There is nothing in the rules that requires a solid 6"x6" plate.

i dont see a reason why the plates wont pass, and you dont need 6x6 plates in that origin of the car, the only 6x6 plates that are mandatory are the 4 front ones. ie...main hoop and a pillar bars.

im almost 100% positive about this....Miller
