lately it's been raining and i couldn't help but notice how bad my defrosters are, this is a 95 civic. compared to a integra or any newer car, the defrosters suck ***. when im by myself in my car, they work OKAY but when i have another passenger, they dont work as well and if i have 2 passengers, they almost dont work at all. i know about turning on your heater w/ your a/c on full blast but i dont have a/c, so there has to be another way around that. anyone do a writeup on how to make your defrosters better?

 

Heres a really dumb question: Did you remove the a/c from your car?

 

Ive seen people say they can still defrost without a/c. But I never could. I had an 89 camry which had a freon leak. I could never ever defrost the dang windows no matter what i tried. Had to carry a rag to wipe.

what works best for me (93 CX with no AC):
1. make sure that its set on fresh air, not recirc
2. aim the air at the windshield (duh)
3. point the side dash vents towards the side windows
4. turn temperature to cold, blower to high
5. slowly move the the temp to warm

it's been pretty cold and rainy here in cali, and i drive up in the snow alot, and this has worked for me.

you can try some Fog-x (made by the people that make rain-x) that helps to prevent fog inside your window

 

97 with no ac and ive never had any problems

just tell your passengers not to breath

 

my defrost sucks too...my integra had the best defrost...

 

nice, ill check out the fog-x. but is there anything to spray in my vent system to clean em out. maybe they could be clogged? i also find that when its set to recirculate, it blows stonger rather than fresh air

 

Here's anothing thing you can do that I've found to be very helpful. Make sure the inner side of your rear windshield (or any other window) is clean, grease/crud-free. Use window cleaner. Afterwards, what I do is take some fresh newspaper and crumple it as if it were a cloth and I wipe the inner windshield with it taking off any excess grease/crud. Try it out.

i agree, that works VERY well, mother uses newspaper to clean our mirrors

 

FOG-X is your friend. I live in the northeast with a CX no AC. I dealt with it daily between snowstorms and rain on 90 degree days, until FOG-X

 

Fog-x or rain-x works great.

Or buy JDM window visors and crack windows open

It only sounds like it blows harder but what your doing is recirculating the moist air inside the car causing it to condense on the colder glass, making the fogging problem worse. Look in the owners manual it will specifically tell you there to MAKE SURE you have the lever or switch set on FRESH AIR, NOT recirculate.

 

or drive with your window down a crack

i've used fog-x once a couple months ago, and now it seems to have made my car fog up more. to the people who use fog-x, do you continue using it?

YEAH! It'll be a lot quieter and you can concentrate while driving. lol.

okay, ill try out that fresh air button once more, i cleaned my windows last night so all the grease is gone, and im sure that was part of the problem cause i know fog loves that and i have still yet to try out fog-x. keep em coming
