Default Those running 2.5"+ exhaust: Safe to remove gas tank heat shield?

I'm having a problem with my exhaust hitting my heat shield around the gas tank with my 60mm Tsudo/Thermal exhaust setup and rattling like crazy. It's driving me nuts!

I'm looking to upgrade to a 2.5" or 3" exhaust in the future and I'm wondering if you should take off the heat shield around the gas tank or bend it back or what so that it doesn't rattle.

Is that safe?

If it doesn't touch, you should be fine... My Thermal 3inch was hitting my heat shield where the cat is located and I took it off with no problems.
