For some reason I vaguely recall reading that the Si transmission, although geared identically to the ITR unit, did not use the same parts internally (i.e., the ITR version utilized certain "stronger" components). I could very well be mistaken though.

true, considering the type r has that crazy VtaK powa yo!

Another messageboard myth... perpetuated by people who think they heard something about something or another once upon a time.
Different LSD, different ring gear, sprinkle with some faiRy dust (or without for that weak Si crap) and you're done.

When I read it at the time, it didn't seem to make much sense to me (why incur the cost of designing different internal components for an otherwise identical transmission?) so I'm not surprised to learn that it isn't the case.

anywere just whatever you do dont buy a stolen one... that just gives the thieves the DEMAND that they need to keep on stealing.

are the type r axles necessary to complete the tranny swap? no difference in the splines or whatever (length of the axles?) to make the si axles incompatible?
i may be going w/ a type tranny as well, and want to make sure i have all the parts necessary before i dive into this. it would suck to have the axles be too short or too long and bind.
thanks for any info anybody!
