If you have a vise, snap ring pliers, 4 lb hammer, ball joint press and tools to remove knuckles you can do it yourself. It's pretty simple. Takes me about 1 hour.
I suggest you try it first. If it has to go to the shop remove the knuckle yourself to save some $.

The ball joint press is used to install.
Remove the ball joint w/o pulling the knuckle. Known as the "craftsman trick"

yeah it wouldn't install either... so i banged the joint in also.
