If i modify the battery tray so it fits a larger size battery, does it really matter what size battery i get as long as it fits?

I am currently having a problem with my 2-way alarm system slowly draining my battery (which isnt that great), so im trying to get a cheap fix for it (i.e. not optima)

how old is the battery? a regular battery should be able to handle the two-way alarm. an optima isn't THAT much more expensive. a regular batter is about ~$60, an optima runs around $100

The Yellow Tops are great. My dad works for Johnson Controls (who helped them develop them or something) and I got a yellow top for my 4Runner for like 45 dollars.

EDIT: I would have to say that either something else is draining your battery or your battery is really old and worn out. An alarm system should be able to sit for a LONG time before it becomes a problem.

 

Id get the yellow top if u want to run a nice stereo..

Before you do that figure out why your alarm is drainign your battery. if it is installed correctly is should not be consuming that much of the battery to affect it.

 

You don't need a new battery, buy a stinger battery or an Optima battery (yellow top for deep cycle works great with stereo systems) and have your alarm checked out. The installer may have wired your starter kill relay to a Constant + instead of a Ignition + switch. Very common mistake.

 

its a two-way system and the battery is old, so the two-way is trying to estblish a signal with my remote and its taking power, it hasnt died yet, i jus tnotice it struggles to start it after 2-3 days of sitting out without being started. and a reular battery isnt $60, its more liek $30 at costco
