Hey fellas who have nitours in their cars, got a question or two. I have a zex kit in my car with a 55 shot, and was wondering why exactly does zex say to retard timing 4 degrees for the 75 shot???? also what would happen if i did not retard timing, besides blowing motor??? i understand that retard timing would help keep fuel from detonating, but is it possible to run a 75 shot without retarding timing because i am just to damn lazy to do it. any ideas???

 

u can do it with out retarding u motor, but i would at least retard it a little. but i ran a 75 shot ,but i had full MSD ignition, and all my other basic bolts on, i retard my ignition by 2degrees

 

If you want detonation, go ahead and use the 75 shot with no retard. However, the retarding is for the safety of the motor. Do what Zex says if you dont want to buy a new motor or have yours rebuilt soon.

 

The reason that they say retard it sooooo much is because of the fact that the ZEX is in actuallity, a dry kit. With a wet kit, you would have the extra fuel and only need to retard it one to two degrees.

 

I thought they made the Zex kit so that you wouldn't have to retard your timing?
