Default DIY painting moldings. are yours fadded?

ok.. well, i hate the white fading moldings on my hatch, so i got some "trim paint" and went at it.

1st of all, this involves some brewski's. my choice today was Hefeweizen

ok... so to start it off, a few before pics.

after masking them off.. i used some of that brown 3M stuff, to scuff it up.

then i wiped it off, with some windex, and blew it off with my compressor.

now we're prepped for paint.

1st coat.

time to pull off the tape.

finished product.

looks nice. sucks though, because look at how much of your car had to be masked off just to paint that little part. lol.

very nice job. you do know that you could of just taken off that little piece right? it's just hold in by clips, i would of been too lazy to tape off the entire car..lol

U can pop the strip off but most of the time you end up bending the hell out of it...might as well buy new ones after that.

Isn't there a way to just slide them off? If anybody knows and its not that hard, please let me know. Just wondering if masking them is the only option.

My Hefeweizen doesn't look like iced tea...

Good DIY, though.

What type of paint did you use, cuz I've painted the moldings on a couple of car that I've had and it always ends up looking faded again within just a couple of months. Does anybody know of anything you could to make it last a little longer?

Those things come out really easy, and they're bendable, it's just a piece of rubber. Good job on the work though.

nice... i like how u mask half on your car just to paint the roof molding. Making sure no paint gets on your car is always a good thing.

Good work man. I'll be waiting to paint my sideskirts and front lip once it warms up a lil. And who cars that you had to tape off the car. Beer, car, and garage, its good day no matter what.

Heh, they're actually pretty easy to pop off. My friend who paints cars was showing me how to pop off certain moldings on the Civic w/out breaking the tabs, since he likes to remove everything before he paints the car. Still, looks good Chris
