On mine there was a pointer on the crankshaft, and then a mark on the oil pump to line it up to. Never heard of a witness mark.

put your crank pulley on and line it up at the white mark all by itself

no marks on your crank pulley? at all nothing, not even notches

If not time to get a new pulley because I have no idea how you are going to time your car.

there should be 3 marks real close to each other looking something like this( ||| ), and then one single one by itself which is what you line up with the pointer on your plastic cover. this isnt on your crank pulley???

their is a white mark on the pulley, and there is an etch in the shaft itself if you take the pulley off. Either will work.

here just do this, put a screw driver or something really really long into a #1 spark plug hole and rotate it by hand do not crank it. And look for a place where the screw driver or whatever you put in there sticks up the most. That's your TDC.
