Default Is there an interest in 15x8 wheels?

On the miata forums lately there has been discussion, of toyo making a 225/45/15 RA1. Well Toyo is now going to do it, the only problem is that there are not many wheel makers out there who are making a light weight 15x8 wheel. On the miata forum they have been working on getting vendors to talk to a few manufactures. The idea would be to make 15x8 +35mm offset to run a 225/45R15. It would be dope if we could get a cheap and light 15x8, the problem is the cost would proabably be pretty high to do a small production run, but if the honda crowd was in along with the miata crowd, and some vendors wanted in on it then the cost could be justified to get a light 12# 15x8 wheel on the market. Is anyone interested in this?

MOst classes only let you run 7" wide rim.

Yup. And 225/45/15s fit just fine on 15x7s.

Rota will do a custom run of wheels for a relatively small quantity. It takes time, but its do-able. I even think the pricing is quite favorable.

DRFlickner got Rota to make a run of 15x7 Slips for ITR owners. You might want to approach him directly to see if he could do some 15x8 for the Miata folks.

He was able to get the run done without having to raise the price much, either, as I recall.

Are cast Slips light enough to satisfy the requirements?

Cast Slips would be good. I would like to see 15X8 Rota GT3s. 30 mm offset would work best for me.

After the 5-bolt Honda deal, you will probably have to recruit a number of Miata owners before he goes through all that trouble again.

Somebody mentioned 12 pounds. I think that any Rota you come up with is going to be about a pound heavier than that, in case that matters.
