Default my car blew up!! my options

whole in the front of the block on my y8! help me out!!

either buy a complete shortblock y8 off my friend with 60k for 200$
or-
buy a complete y7 swap, 100k ,trans ,complete engine and whatnot for 200$
or
obd1 d15 complete motor with around 100k and do a mini me swap, 50$

what should i do?

the oil level the day before was on the LOW side but my oil light never went on prior to the motor throwing a rod? it had about 80k on it. just crusing 70mph in 5th gear then rod knock and like1 min later it was all over ,ill get pics tomorw

i'd pick up both the y8 short block and complete y7 swap. this way for only $400 you can have another motor to put back together, and having the y7 as a back up.

i like this idea

i just bought a spare obd1 ls motor for real cheap, just so when i inevitably blow up my current one i have a spare block

You can find plenty of D16 short blocks for under $100. I sometimes wish I stayed D-series.

what was ur setup?

I'd try to find a soultion to what went wrong before building anything else

Find a cheap D16Z6/D16Y8 block. If your friend is selling you a D16Y8 block for $200, he isn't your friend. You can find complete D16Z6/D16Y8 engines for that price.

All you need is an engine, no transmission. Don't waste money if you don't have to.

I would go with a better swap. You can buy LS motors for 800 bucks with only around 30,000 miles. I was thinking of getting my motor from totaljdm.com LS motor = good compressiong = boost boost boost...
