h22a coup back to b-series
i have a dead h22a in my 93 coup. motor was boosted but has big *** hole in block. now i have an itr motor (full swap). only problem is this; when h22 went in, shop cut out one mount completely. how hard will it be to re-weld a new mount, and will it be good as new? i can't weld for squat, so anyone know of good shop here in socal?
Im not sure which mount they would have cut, but my upper tranny mounting spot was cut off when my car was stolen and stripped. I bought a new one and the guy that painted the car alos welded it in for me. This is the only pic i have of it (talking about the mount all the way on the left)
Notice the holes on the mount itself? Those holes are there becasue there were spot welds there that had to be drilled out to get the mount off. Line the holes back up and fill in those holes with a MIG or if you're good and want to be pretty go TIG but, i'm not too experiuenced in that. If you need welding tips there are some serious welders on here such as Engloid (and many others) that can help you. .02
Just cut off the old mount, clean the frame rail, weld the new one on. Jump on it and stomp it to see if it breaks
Its most likly the tranny mount, the others usually arent in the way and dont need to be modified.

just a heads up, when you buy the new mount, there is not any holes in it. The one that is already in your car has a bunch of little circle divits (sp?) all the way around it. That is where it is spot welded to the frame. You have to drill all those holes out, then you will probably need an air chissel to slide in and pop that bastard the rest of the way off. The line the new one up, tack it in spot, and weld around the outside of it. Be carefull not to heat it too much as im sure it could warp a little and then a mount wont fit in it. Good luck
thanx everyone for input! would it be better to find a used mount from junkyard, or bite and get new one from dealer? or better yet, does hasport/hayame make mounts for stock spots? thanx again
ummm i think it would be really hard to get one off a car at a junk yard and still be able to use it. You'll have to just by a new one. http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com Its like $25
i was afraid junkyard mount might not work. right now im kind of stuck and flustered. the noob i gave my turbo kit to for some rotas, seats and a h22 did not come thru. now i must rape his *** in court. if he has no money ill take his b16 coupe with spoon head and slang it for $1500.
anyway, i thank all of you for your advice. im trying to find mounts this weekend. if it fails, ill just get another h22 and call it a day

take his distributer, starter and alternator until the MF pays you. it takes 30 min.
I cut out a custom DPFI to MPFI engine harness out of some ***** car who 'forgot' to pay me. I wish i could have seen the look on Joe Mechanics face when he seen a multi port engine in a DX
did it right infront of his airhead GF while he was at work.
anyway, about being afraid of the junkyard mount,
ask them to torch off a chunk of the car where the mount is.. nothing too big.. - tell them not to cut too close the mount so it doesn't warp.. than take it home and take your time and with a GOOD quality drill bit drill out the spot welds. make sure the person who welds it on for you has experience welding on cars. there's really nothing ot be araid of!
