That sounds a little silly to me. They could be held in place by a snap ring or something. It would only take a second to remove & pull back the boots. Then throw some more grease in & go. Plus, if you insist on not using them, you could just NOT USE THEM. I'de bet they would sell like crazy too...
The boots could be made in any color too...

there is a dust boot available, but you don't really need it, unless you plan on rallying, I just put a high pressure grease on the shaft and it holds up good to the rain and dirt, this type of grease wont wash out, and protects the shaft from any type of corrosion build up. recommended if the cars ran in the rain. dirt damages ball bearings easily not spherical bearings asks the off road guys.

This link says nothing about being fixed. In fact, since the previous product is no longer on their site, I would tend to think that it's the same floating shaft unit with the addition of slotted ends for whatever reason.
To the original poster... what a lazy post... no pictures, no details, no link... why even bother?

I thought the same thing, but if you look again you'll see that the bolt holes on the shaft (were the two mounting bolts go) are slotted now. I'm assuming this is how you will be adjusting toe, and the compensator arms will be removed completely.
I have another question:
Would it be better for handeling to have fixed shaft bearings w/o compensator arms, OR sliding shaft bearings with compensator arms? So far, both parts have stated that their race only, so that original "street version" idea doesn't seem to apply.

Im running the fixed shaft. The car rotates a lot better with the fixed shaft. Id say about 10% more or so. you can get away with running less spring in the rear, you can still change the setup of the suspension to get the car to push a lot if you like a lot of push. The sliding shaft is still avalible. And the slots are to adjust the toe.
