Put a fork in her. She's done...

At least without a rebuild or swap.

Since it's most likely hydrolock, the problem is probably on the bottom end.

umm you think a rod mighta getting a little out of shape? well imma still pull out the head, and i'll inspect the bottom end while the head is out and fully rebuild the head.

I would guess he has custom low compression rods now:

Was this a H22 engine? I sent you a pm...

so, to help him out, would this just be a straight piston and rod drop in, or would there be crank damage as well?
in addition to the bent valves that are most likely...

It's probably just a couple rods. Crank, piston, and valve damage is not a likely outcome of trying to compress water unless it happens at high rpm and you get a grenade effect. Worst case is usually the rod snaps and sticks through the block.

Be glad it didn't snap the rod in half and eat the block, like mine did!

You bent a rod. You will need to pull the head and oil pan/mains, pull the rods and pistons, and your best bet would just to be to buy a new set of rods and have the old ones pressed out and the old pistons pressed onto the new rods....after they're all balanced at a machine shop.

I don't know of any places that only sell one rod, plus you'll want to get the rods and pistons balanced before you put them back in.

If you need just one rod, I may still have a rod and piston together sitting around i'll let go cheap. PM me if ya want it.
