Default dash lights wont work 92 civic

I have a problem with my 1992 honda civic ex sedan the dash lights work half of the time and dont work the other half. Im not real fimilar with the electronics of this car could this problem be a relay or a loose wire or something. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Check the fuses, that is probably the problem. Worst case scenario it's not... Pull your cluster and see if any wires are disconnected where they shouldn't be.

Probably just a fuse though, I think it's a 10a, but I'm not exactly sure.

I dont believe it to be a fuse because they will just turn on while driving. I dont think its a loose wire because they dont flicker over bumps i think its a relay just not sure how to determine which one or where its located

My climate control lights will occasionally go out in my EH2. A good smack on the dash usually brings them back to life.

you either have bad filimints in the bulbs in the cluster or you need to replace the grounds on your engine. you should have one on the tranny, one on the valve cover and one off the battery. or add another one to the battery. i had the same issue on my 92 vx hatch and adding and replacing my grounds took care of it. they get hairy and corroded after that long. bad grounds will cause your car to do weird things. also its definitly NOT a fuse. either a fuse works or it dont. try this i bet it takes care of it.

Also, check the dimmer control module. Make sure it's turned all the way up :-p and all that good stuff behind it.

If it was a fuse these lights wouldn't work:

Dash lights (all of them)
Turn signal lights, the turn signals would work, but the parking lights wouldnt light up.

I'm not sure where the relay is to this. I'd like to know also.

punch the dashboard it always seems to help on my winter ride, always check and see if any other lights are out such as interior lights, try punching the dash and if they turn on then its a wire haha

I will try the ground thing. I have hit the dash board and that does not help iv also tryed to wiggle wires in the dash that also does nothing i know that the dimmer switch is on because the lights work half of the time the other half they will just turn on wile driving.

Dude, its probably the dimmer switch for your dash lights. Tap on the switch that adjusts the brightness of your dash lights and see if they come on. This will work for awhile, but eventually you'll need the switch.
