18 inch + lightweight = oxymoron unless you're willing to spend $4000 PLUS on just the wheels.
Are you willing to spend the money, or are you okay with just putting blingtastic 18 inch wheels ?

my car scrapes the floor on 17" wheels so 16" would not be an option besides most here with nice cars now run 19" wheels.
18" wheels with a 35 profile tyre would give approx the same rolling radious as a 16" with a 50 profile tyre so acc will not be affected by much other than the increased weight, but an 18" wheel that was lighter than my 17" will would also counteract this.
i would be prepared to spend about $1500 on wheels + tryes

Well, there you go.
--If you want go-before-show, get some lightweight 15s for relatively cheap.
--If you want show-before-go, get some 19's for relatively cheap.
--If you want show and go, get some lightweight 17-19s for a buttload of cash.

but $1500 set of wheels in th US would equal about £2700 set of wheels in the UK in the uk and for that money i could practically buy any wheel i wanted but for the £700 which is approx $1500 i could buy four very heavy round pieces of stone.
so ive seen some volk racing wheels around for this money which are supposed to be quite light, im not talking about track/race car light but light than your standard road/street rims.

Then your car is too low and you're surrounded by poseurs.

Nope, you're wrong.
A, for example, 215/ 35 18 gives you an overall rolling diameter of : 23.93 US inches.
A 215/50 16 (which is a screwy size anyway, you'd really use a 215 45, but I digress) gives you an overall rolling diameter of : 24.46 inches

You shouldn't, in my opinion, spend any money on larger wheels to solve a suspension/ride height issue.

Light is good and lightest is best, regardless of application.
Regardless of which brand of wheel you buy, an 18" wheel is going to weigh more than a 16" size or a 15"
Moreover, have you thought about how much 18" blingtastic specials are going to bog down your car, and the related, accelerated wear you're going to place on wheel bearings , hubs, axles , etc by making them rotate those bricks?

its not to solve the issue of ride high alone, 18" in my opinion will look better and by decreasing my tyre size from 205/45/17 to205/35/18 will keep the rolling radious the same.
sorry about the previous example i was wrong

Well then, just do whatever you want.
If you just want to resolve an aesthetic issue, who gives a **** what the wheels weigh ? (It's like fretting over the weight of a 1000000000000000000 karat gold pendant - "Don't mattah what it weighzzzzzzzzzzz, it's BLINGTASTIC and looks GOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHH!)

again the car already runs on 17" rims so the theory is a lower profile tyre to keep the same rolling radious and an equal or lower weight rim for acc purposes, but i do agree on the extra stress on relevant parts
and its not just for loooooooookkkkksssssssssssssss

I just wanted good website address for wheel shops in the us, 18's are the only option for me.
as the car is not used for track days very much and visits more shows anything smaller than a 17" would be laughed at in the UK(different country different style/taste).
so if anybody has anymore sites than those listed above i would be greatful

i normally discourage any wheel bigger than 17" on a 4th gen because i think 18s+ looks too big for the poor little car, but i'm feeling nice today
here are good websites for wheels in my book:
