Question about trade
I got a 91 Accord LX Wagon - https://honda-tech.com/gara...=2785
I may trade it for a 94 Civic DX with 124,000 on it (my car has 228,000). The car has an AEM CAI, adjustable suspension all around, 17" Enkei's, and Type R front and back seats.
Should I?

What kind of HP did the 94 Civic DX put out? I know the more popular VTEC has mods up the wazoo available, but does the 1.5 stock DX engine have anything available?
I think it was mid 90's for both HP and TQ. But great gas mileage, and it's already got some mods to it. Make sure to see what kind of maintenance has been done. Mainly timing belt and water pump. If so,go for it.

What in the world am I going to do with mid 90's HP and TQ? Are these 1.5 engines worth working on, or will I be wasting time? I thought about maybe bolting on a header and some 3" plumbing, but where would I be at that point? 100 HP? I know these cars are light, but damn.

no, most d series aren't worth doing anything too.
Get a B series and you'll be straight.
LS 130-142 HP/120-128 TQ
b16 160-185 HP/ like 115 TQ
GSR 170-180 HP/127 TQ
TYPE R 197-205 HP/ 128 TQ
h22 190-220 HP/ ??? TQ.
Something liek that I may be a little off.

So I assume a header and exhaust is pointless? Of the engines you listed, which one's are the most common and cheaper to aquire?
depending on what you want to do with the car will determine what motor to get. I have a single cam vtec and i run with B series all day long. If you just want a quick car then just do some bolt ons. If you want to drop 2g's for a stock swap to run the same as a d series with bolt ons then go for it.
I just want to have it at the point where I can at least move as fast as I look and sound. The car has the ol' coffee can exhaust and it looks nice slammed with 17" on it.

Pretty much. Better spent saving the money for a DOHC vtec swap. I dont know where you're located but I know someone in Pa with an LS swap with 90k miles out of a 1995 'TEg for $900 --- motor, trans, axles, ecu ---- all you'd need for a swap.
Make the trade. It'd save you the trouble of trying to sell that Accord, which I think would be quite hard to sell...
P.S. The DX has 102 hp at the crank and is quite slow! I had a '93 Coupe.

I live in Florida, but not ready just yet to buy the engine, need to fix my wifes Contour first.
As far as the Accord goes, see my first post. The guy wants to trade me the Civic for my Accord. My Accord is actually a very nice car, i've had 5 people already stop by my house and ask if I want to sell it, and I don't even have a for sale sign on it.

D- series can produce plenty of power, if you know what you're doing. also they are cheap and easy to find parts for. you can do a mini-me swap with the 1.5's relatively cheap. and that involves only swapping the head and gives you the single cam v-tec with a higher compression ratio, and higher compression means more power. i think that the trade is definitely worth it. good luck.
I appreciate all of the input from you guys, it looks like I will be making the trade tomorrow morning.
Does any one have access to a CARFAX account? I got the vin number - 2HGEH2362RH528546
Thanks to every one.

I did it, I traded my Accord for this little black rocket. It is a stock engine from what I can see, but the damn thing flies! First gear hits 55 MPH with no problem! And with the 17" Edge rims, it's like driving a go-cart! I'll post pictures as soon as I have some. Although, I may need some one to host them for me.
Thank you all for helping me make this decision.

Another thing you could do to help with the acceleration is swap in a Z6 or Y8 tranny. They have closer gear ratios, and can make driving the car a little more fun. I have the D-series too, and I can run with B-series all day long.
I think I was caught up in the excitement. I tried again this morning on the way to work, I just about hit 40 in 1st, made it past 60 in 2nd, and was up to 80 and still climbing in 3rd before I had to let off.
Now I know you guys said this engine is in the mid to high 90's in HP and TQ, but is it possible for this thing to move like this with that kind of power? I know the guy said he had an upgraded clutch from the last owner, but not sure which one, and it has an AEM CAI, and a loud coffee can muffler. Could these items make a difference?
