PY R with Kosei rims, would you bother painting them?
I picked up a set of Kosei rims for track track time along with r-comps a while back. But Seeing all the pics of PY with them in silver makes me cringe.
Other then the money... is there a reason why I should not paint them?
Also what color other then black would you paint them?

I did my Koseis gloss black. Easy job. Scuff them really good with scotch brite, clean them and shoot with rattle cans of your favorite flavor. Use an engine paint or other hi-temp coating for best results. Two cans should do it.
If they are going to remain track wheels, use a dark color to help hide the brake dust. Black, gunmetal gray, bronze....

Who cares about looks on a track part? They'll be black soon enough.

Hehehe true.
As for having them media blasted then sprayed would that be the best method?
I'm not worried about re-sale value but I also don't want to kill it either...
I have access to a media blaster and my friend owns a body shop, So I think it can be done fairly cheap.
RJ, what color is that?, it looks good but I was thinking a hair darker... do you have a better picture available and what color code what it?
thanks.

If you can use a media blaster for free, then go for it - it will be worth your time in the 'finished' product. Otherwise, aircraft stripper and sandpaper are fine (what I did).
I will snap a pic of the paint can this weekend but it was "truck/suv" rattlecan stuff from vatozone and a coat of clear. Up close it doesnt look fantastic but they're track wheels.

I'd rather not say the amount, I bought them from a close friend.
Lets just say sweet deal.
Dave, thanks again!

thanks for the link, I remember reading that thread actually. Got any idea how much I could POSSIBLY find a used set for?

Rob... Maybe the green tape will give you an idea of what it will look like on PY

I rattle can'd mine.. As far as reasons for not painting them, my only concern would be the wheel retaining more heat than normal.. Probobly a minimal concern.
But my paint actually proteced one of my rims.. I believe a big chunk of concrete came up and smacked the wheel, instead of taking a chunk out of the spoke, it just shaved off the layers of black paint
Repaint and you are g00d!
My main reason for painting mine..
According to the Mrs: CW and Kosei White clash.

same here.. I rattle canned the set Rotas(well, me and Smitdog did) that I have.. and they look fine!
if I don't sell them, I'll probably paint them a darker color though, the brake dust is getting annoying to clean..
