Are there any new Koni Products?
For most Honda cars, the current Koni offerings are:
Dampers alone:
KONI RACE Shocks (yellow)- Brand new race/autocross SPSS3 valved shocks for most Civics, Integras, CRXs, etc. First production units are expected in February 2005 with shorter than stock bodys (25mm front, 15mm rear). Externally rebound adjustable.
KONI Sport Shocks (yellow)- Performance street and light competition use shocks, most are externally rebound adjustable and most are spring perch ride height adjustable where applicable. Priced against other brand externally adjustable shocks.
KONI Special Shocks (red)- Primarily for street use, valved essentiall for comfort with perforamcne adjustability. Generally valved a buit softer than Sport shocks. All are rebound damping adjustable but most are internally adjustable and need to be adjusted off the car. Priced against other brand non-adjustable shocks.
There are a number of other racing shocks that can be custom built on a case by case basis in the 2812, 3011, 8212, etc. lines depending on budgets and needs. Single and double adjustables available. Road race/autocross or drag race valvings.
Suspension kits (4 dampers, 4 springs):
1150 Series Sport Kit- Threaded coil-over kits, height adjustable and damping adjustable for 92-00 Civic and 94-01 Integra, progressive perforamcen springs and single adjustable dampers.
1130 Series Sport Kit- New for Late '04-Early '05- Lowering suspension kit with externally adjustable (where applicable) Konis Sport dampers and matched progressive lowering springs
1250 Series RSK kits- Lowering suspension kits with specially valved internally adjustable (off the car) Koni red shocks. Program has been discontinued in leiu of the 1130 kit so the remaining '92-95 Civic and '96-00 Civic kits are being very deeply discounted with clearance pricing while stock remains.

What do you think the SPSS3 Koni's will be priced at? Also I got another question, does anyone know if GC still sells Koni adapters? I'm running the generic type GC's on AGX's, and plan to get yellows. I heard I'd have to get new Koni-specific sleeves now.

Target retail price all along for a set of four SPSS3 RACE shocks is about $1000-1100. With some new pricing and exchange rate info, I hope to have it all finalized in the next two weeks.
You will need to check with GC about the adapters availability but I know they make Koni specifically sized coli-over sleeve systems as does Koni as well.

This not a US only kind of deal is it? So if I want to get me a set of these SPSS3 RACE shocks I can get it from my local Koni dealers here in Norway?
These were developed by us and made for us exclusively in the US market by Koni Holland. We are being shipped the entire production run so they won't be any remaining in Europe. You can check with the Koni distributor in Norway to see if he can arrange some but it might simply be easier to get them from a US mail order dealer who ships worldwide. Considering the devaluing US$, this might be in your favor.
As an alternative, if you have Koni Sports available and they have a Koni rebuild facility there, I would be happy to share the valving info with them to revalve them for you.

Yes I can get Koni Sports here but i dont know if I can get them rebuilt in Norway, I suspect i might have to send them to Holland for that. Also I think you are correct in that it might just be easier and possibly also cheaper to just get them from a vendor in USA as the exchange rate against our NOK is as low as it has been in many years.

Will the new Race shocks be available for the S2000?

Not currently planned but there is a US tuner who is going to have a production run of larger bodied double adjustable shocks made for it with a more aggressive valving. Can't say exactly who yet until he is ready to announce it but it has been in the works for awhile and the R&D is completed. I don't yet know the exact ETA on them yet.

Yes.

THIS is your shock of choice for a serious autocross, track, or race car. Probably lost on your occasional autocrosser, but experienced drivers WILL know the difference.
(Note to you drag guys - I'm talking about racing with turns here. Your requirements may well be different so I won't speak to that)
Used to be, us Honda track guys running incredibly high spring rates (in excess of 600lb or so) had to buy regular off the shelf (OTS in RR/AX speak) Konis, and get them shortened and revalved to handle the springs and the lowering. Or worse, buy impossibly expensive exotic shocks. This KONI race shock is the same thing, at a reduced cost and substantially reduced hassle factor. You get "the good stuff" out of the box.
I've effectively got these shocks on my GS-R. They are very, very good. Even on a bumpy track with 1000lb rear springs, the car just does whatever I ask it to. The short bodies will help the usual wheel travel problem so common with our cars. The valving is right on. The SPSS3 KONI is proven on more winning race cars than I can count.
I've got nothing in this post but experience. The KONI shocks work brilliantly.

Give us a few weeks to get pricing locked down and then product should begin arriving in late February-early March. The part numbers and applications are:
'89-91 Civic/ CRX (also '88 models for front only)- 8041-1166RACE front, 8041-1153 RACE rear
'92-95 Civic & all years Del Sol- 8041-1152 RACE front, 8041-1153 RACE rear
'96-00 Civic- 8041-1152 RACE front, 8041-1213 RACE rear
'94-01 Integra (Type R models for front only)- 8041-1152 RACE front, 8041-1153 RACE rear

enigz (8:05 PM 1/10/2005): Greetings,
I'm currently located somewhere Southeast Asia and is wondering where I can get KONI RACE Shocks (yellow) Stateside and at what cost.
Application is for civic 96....to be used on 2 hour races.
BTW can this same set up be used on the streets since most of the cars here ain't trailer queens.

Lee, so as I have a Type-R will I need to swap out my lower control arms for these to be bolt on?

Lee,
I appologise for not being clear. I would like to know when I can find out about the S2000 application. Is there any rough estimate on the time frame?

Yes at this time we do not have a Type R/'88 CRX rear shock developed due to the smaller production numbers however the popularity of this program may allow us to develop some. Until then, your options are swapping our your rear arms to standard Integra unit or having the normal 8041-1164 Sport Type R rear shock revalved and shortened.

That was the S2000 that I was discussing. No RACE is currently in the works as there is a larger bodied, race tested, double adjustable unit that was developed for a US tuner who I cannot identify yet as he has not announced the program. Time frame is as soon as we can get them but I don't know the specifics yet. IM me if you want more specifics.
