Yep it's my taillight, it's leaking TONS of water

So tonight I filled up my bathtub and dunked the taillight into the water, inside side down. I did this so that there would be some air trapped inside and I could see look for bubbles escaping to see where water was coming in.
So I did that and TONS of bubbles poured out from the upper edge of the lens, right below where the hatch closes on top of it. That's where water is getting into the taillight, fills it up, and subsequently spills over into the car.
So if you remember my thread where I added weather stripping around the taillights, DON'T DO THAT! It makes more water run down over that top edge of the taillight lens and if your taillights are leaking there, it will let more water into the taillight. If you have ever taken the taillight off and found the bottom inside edge of the gasket all wet or very dirty, then your taillight is leaking, and could very well be coming in at that top edge.
Here was my thread I made about what I thought was a solution, but was actually a failure.

So now I need to replace the taillight. I don't think I can simply seal it, because any sealant would be VERY visible from the outside. Anybody have a driver side 94-97 taillight sitting around I could get from you?

The foam gaskets for the taillights being a little wet around the edges is fine. Mines was like that when I checked and there is no water in the hatch.
Are you thinking about upgrading to 98-01 tails now? Or maybe the jdm 98-01 tails?

No I prefer the amber turn signals on the teal color.
If the gasket is wet or very dirty (or both) all along the bottom edge such that it looks different from the rest of the gasket, the taillight is definitely leaking in water.

Hope that finally fixes it for you! Once I get my teg back from my friend I have to fix the water leak in it. I think its just the sunroof drains, but he's had the car for over a month so I haven't had a chance to look at it.
Ya i just got a 96 GSR and i have the exact same problem. My driver side tail light has condensation in it and i also have a little bit of water in my trunk when it rains or snows. I constantly dry it but i am not sure where it is coming from. I suspect its coming from the driver side tailight because of the visible drips in it.
Would i have to replace my tail light?
