im running eurathane bushings throughout, kyb struts and skunk 2 drag racing springs... 1000 lb rear, and 600lb front
i havnt had it to the track since i put the springs in, we have snow up here!!

I run a rear set-up similar to the Kens Kustoms one.. I run a short V8 style shock with a 1000lb spring.. I had 650lbs in it and ran 1.7 60fts now I run 1.5's
In the front I run a Koni bound rebound adjustable, I dont know the spring rate in the front I never looked.. But I run a set of custom traction bars to clear my K20 set-up..

on the back I am running a 15x4 rim with a 26-4.5-15 hoosier and on the front I run 13x8's with Hoosier 24.5-9-13's running about 6psi in the fronts on a semi prepared track.. the car still spins hard in 1st running 1.5 and 1.6 60fts
to answer ur questiong a stiffer spring rate really wont do to much for you. I may be wrong i have never really seen people go much stiffer then 450 possibly 500 in the front. a stiffer spring rate in the rear stops the car from "squatting". Somebody correct me if im wrong but squatting occurs when you launch hard and the weight in the front of the car is almost pushed towards the rear or taking the weight off the front of the wheels due to a hard launch. Less weight overtop of the wheels=less traction. thats where the stiffer spring rate comes in for the rear springs. The stiffer the spring rate+stiffer damping in the rear suspesnion=less likely to squat. Squatting is almost impossible to eliminate but it can be controlled quite a bit...take a look at Gary Gardella when he lauches of the line the car almost doesnt even look like it squats that how much their suspension and trans setup has been worked on a perfected. not that a trans setup has anything to do with squating. Somebody feel free to correct me if im wrong with anything i stated
on my old road cars I started with soft shock settings and slowly wound them harder until I got wheel hop on my civic if you jack the car up the wheels dont drop down unless you stand on them... so I guess its fair to say I run the front of my car hard well at least the shocks.. I'll try and find out some spring rates for you tomorow if I have enough time..

yeh but alot if not most of the quicker FWD drag cars ive seen run a softer (rear) spring rate..its the low center of gravity and wheelie bars that are preventing those cars from "squating"...u see the complete opposite from street/drag cars...(raised/no WB/stiff rear)..

you are right i forgot to mention most of these guys in hot rod class and other quick fwd classes are running wheelie bars. like you said it plays a large roll in the car launching allowing them to run softer spring rates and lowered ride height not to mention these guys arent using stock rear rear end or axels what ever it maybe. but yea street/drag cars you will see are raised and have a much stiffer rear then actual drag cars...i have yet to really dial in my suspension set up maybe when the time approaches i will post some results on different setups. Currently i am running Skunk2 drag launch and will try to dial it in as much as possible. probly half way thru the season i will switch to Strange coilover setup and dial that in and post results/comparison at a later time.

I was also interested in the Strange setup, I was wondering if anyone else was using these as well..........

i really dont know of anybody with a daily driven car who is currently using a strange coilover set up but if ur interested Ken's Kustom Chassis located in Reading, PA can assist you and give u some info on the coilovers. i believe the damping is double adjustable if that is even a feature.
nothing special here...
gab stroke 2's, 10k front 8k rear springs, set on full hard all around
22x9x13 m&h
jimfab traction bars
315whp turbo
2380lbs with driver
1.710 60' with slipping clutch...grrrrr

I noticed my *** squated also. For now my car is a daily driver so 600lb spring rates are a little bit much. My set up is GC coilovers 400F/350R with KYB AGX's. I was thinking about switching the springs around if it would help. One of my big questions is what settings to set the struts at. i recently went to the track and was runnin 4 in the rear and 2 up front. Tire size is 22x8x13. My best 60' was 1.8, but then I missed 2nd gear
, prolly would have been my best run. I averaged 1.9'. What do u guys think??

Im also running KYB AGX's but i am running Skunk2 Drag Launch Coilover set up. I think having your AGX's set at 2 up front is fine...for the track i would play around with the rear on 7 or 8 setting it will make the damping alittle stiffer not allowing it to squat as much? I have yet to really dial it in yet at the track i set it on 8 on the streets and did some launching and the car wasnt squating at all, but then again i have Drag Lauch springs in the rear so that really doesnt do you any good. What is ur engine set up? FI or N/A? if ur FI i would go with a bigger slick like a 24.5 possibly 25. that might be able to compensate for u 60' times. just keep on launching it hard maybe try launching it higher rpms. But i guess ur optioin for not going to a higher spring rate in the rear would be limit straps and a nice set of traction bars.
