willing to drive anywhere but prefer OC. i have a small screw stuck in the tranny where my shift linkage normally screws in. i can't drill in it so i can't use the screw extractor. tried titanium drill bits and cobalt drill bits but no luck. so i basically need someone to do drill it or do something to get it out.

anyone know anywhere that will do it?

no, it's the other part of the shift linkage. the part that connects to the tranny.

 

try AAMCO, they are a tranny shop. they might be able to help, i don't think you need any kinda specialty shop for this.

 

the problem is not the tranny though. it's the bolt stuck in it. but i'll give it a try. anyone else with suggestions?

 

try a carbide drill bit. carefull their very brittle so if u snag it on n e thing while drilling u'll break it. and r u just using a hand drill? or u could try kinda tapping a punch or something pointy on the side of the bolt and try and coax it out. unless its really tight then never mind.

 

i doubt a corbide will help me. i tried the cobalt which is meant for heavy metal. i'm using one of these...(but mikita)

 

if its really that stubborn then ur prolly gonna need some more power to break through it like a radial drill, so unless u have like 20 or 30 grand lyin around for one a shop would b a good place to take it to. and i don't c y carbide wouldn't help. i use it all the time at work, actually i use high speed steel to drill through hardened bolts. try a drill bit with a flater angle, i'm guessing ur's r 118 included angle. try a 135, they work better for harder materials. sharpen it urself or buy one. and post some pics if u can so i can c what ur talken about and maybe b more help

thanks! think he'll charge me more since it's under the car? i really don't want to pull out the tranny since i just swaped the motor in a couple days ago.

 

Oh i think youll have to bring him only the tranny. He doesnt really have mechanic tools, only machine shop stuff. Its a machine shop.
