Default B16 VS the ZC

Ok, i no this may sound stupid, but what are the positives and negatives on the ZC engine vs the pros and cons of the B16a? Im kinda on a tight budget so i want to be able to make it worth my while, whichever one i choose. Thanks for your help!

how tight of a budge?

if really tight, a mpfi junkyard turbo sounds like a good idea...

B18= More power and aftermarket support ZC=Better gas mileage and hard to find parts.

The only good thing I can think about the ZC is you can use your mounts and tranny and all that good stuff. On the other hand if you are looking to mod a engine for some power get the B18. (I would just go for a B20 personally)

2 questions.
1)what do you want to do with your car? i.e *drag, autox, etc*
2)how much money do you have?

in the end you will have to use the search button.

i have done a little reasearch on the ZC but I was kinda hoping to get some help directly. I have around a $3000 budget for everything. its a stock car so im not to sure how far it will take me. Its mainly going to be for my own personal use, maybe some drag racing to get some times. I no plenty on the b series engines but ive started getting in to the ZC stuff and was just kinda curious. It seems to be a little more cost effective.

damn...$3000 is sooooo much for JUST a motor swap. it all depends on who you know and what you know..

as for the swap its my understanding that the zc mounts/linkage will bolt up which is cool since with a b-series your gonna need mounts & a linkage. IF you go for the b16 i would recomend jumping to obd1 cause your looking for the most power.

engine wise you might as well jump to a b-series 1.8l (a,b,c). you dont have enough for a ls/vtec unless you wanna run a stock bottom end...which is ghey. b16's are ******* awesome but your want the most power for the least amount of money. the money is better spent on a good gsr motor than saved on a b16.

last thing i gotta say is the motor you swap with isnt gonna be stock for long. your spending $3000 right now and your def not gonna stop after. i would go for the big **** so later down the line you can upgrade fairly easy and have a reliable motor to work with.

im biased....**** zc/b16!!!! b18c w17 v-t3cH i5 t3H M4d l337

well I no that $3000 is a lot for it, but its not just for the engine man. Its a totally stock car. I want to do more than just an engine swap. I want to have the basics in it as well, but i figure lets just start on a good note. So lets say that the budget for the engine is more in the $1500 to $2000 range. I also have to deal with body damage as well cuz its a MA car and that might cost a pretty penny.

Just save up the 3G u have right now and wait til you have more and purchase a b18c!!!! You'll regret it if you go with a ZC. Later down the line, you'll urge to want more horsepower.!!! Take me for example, 19 years old, female, asian. First car is a crx hf. First swap is a b18c gsr. I still want more horsepower and it's only been 1 and a half months since it was swapped.!! No track runs, Just a daily driven car.

there really have been way too many b16 vs zc threads on here. its preferance. how much you have. what you want. how fast you want to go. you're previous experience with swaps. you're previous experience with going fast. if you're coming out of a 93 civic cx then the zc would be fine for you. if you're coming out of a turbo talon, you'd want a b16. this is performance speaking of course. The bottom line is how fast do you want to go. Unless you're one of those that wants to say "i have a b16. yay vtec"

do a mini me and rebuild the bottom end of the d16 if its not in great shape and the rest to make the car nice or spend half on the motor and half on the appearance and later save more money and have it where u want. unless you want to go hardcore all out horsepower save the money and get a better motor.

There is no doubt about it. The best ban for the dollar is the gsr engine. Forget the type R forget a B16. GSR or go SOHC turbo
