GC Billet Aluminum upper mounts
http://www.ground-control-stor.../CA=5
anybody used these yet, they look very interesting? It says "only fits ground control coilover kits" do you think this means they'll fit a GC / Koni Yellows combo?
at $99 /pair it doesn't look bad...

can't really find much about them in search, you still have yours? Anyone else who has used them have anything good or bad to say?

I have them on the front of my car. I am lowered 2.5" and they certainly make for a smoother ride over bumps (adds 3/4" travel). They come with a new bump stop (softer than stock) and Ground Control told me you could cut them down too. They said never to run less than 1" of bump stop. They look really nice showing into your engine bay, but they wont fit with a stock GSR or ITR strut tower bar (I have heard the itr bar could be slightly shaved to fit). You will have to use a bar that mounts to either the UCA bolts or the Upper Shock bolts.
Koni shocks use a 12mm shaft instead of Hondas 12mm-10mm step shaft. To fit the "Top Hats" on my Koni yellows, I had to press out the pre-assembled GC shaft sleeve & replace them with Koni's sleeves. It was easy, I just pushed the GC sleeve out w/ the Koni one and a 2x4 plank (tight fit). You will also have to use Koni's washers on top & bottom of the GC bushings.
The quality of the Top Hats are awesome. They come in Red or Dark Grey. The bushings are rock hard & the bump stop is nice & soft. Additionally, the spring seat is a hard polyurethane piece that fits nice & snug inside the spring. They even come with instructions (w/ additional Koni mounting instructions). The instructions, however, were hand draw, but we let that go since it's from a small company.
Also, when they say it only fits GC coilover sleeves, it's because they only work with springs that are 2.25" inner diameter (or whatever GC springs are).
I think these guys sell them too:

Cool, thanx guys... I really want a set of these. Our Canadian Super Stock rules don't allow the relocation of suspension points but I'm already in Street Prepared anyway... And I have the Neuspeed 4 point tower bar so no problems there, maybe just on my generic rear bar.
And if anyone who can wants to move this to the new Suspension forum, go ahead, I just thought I'd post it in here cuz I wanted racers to answer...

I have them as well. They are great. With off the shelf length koni with the lower fork trick(taking off brake bracket) I can bottom out the upper control arms before I even run out of travel. This is on an 89 civic so I'm not sure how much travel is needed on later cars. Definately worth the money.

The race mounts serve a different purpose. They don't add shock travel (which is what most street apps would want). They actually make the upper spring perch pivot in conjunction with the rest of the shock/spring assembly (instead of the shock shaft pivoting inside a bushing while the spring seat stays still). This action should force the spring to be more efficent.
On my old setup (stock shocks w/ GC coils & stock top hats) the top hats stationary upper spring perch caused the springs to rubb against the GC sleeve removing several threads near the coils. Since the upper & lower spring perches were not parallel, they force the spring into a slight "S" shape. This cannot happen with these race mounts since the whole upper spring seat pivots. If your running Koni shocks & Koni/GC sleeves, this rubbing wont happen because the Koni/GC sleeve is much skinnier than the standard GC sleeve.
The cool thing about the "Race Mounts", is that they have ride height adjustability from under the hood. You don't have to jack up the car. The bad thing is that spherical type bearings need constant inspection and attention (GC says Race Only for this reason).

Also available in BLACK for a limited time only!
We also have a race style available that uses a bearing instead of a bushing that is non-adjustable. $199/pair.

I need some top mounts for my CRX, I have Advance Design (made by the folks at ground control) racing dampeners.
Presumably the AD coilovers/dampeners (which are made competition use) are designed in mind for the shock travel range of a fairly low ride height, right? That being said, I'm thinking that it probably isn't neccessary, or perhaps even desirable for me to have the dampener mounting point raised up. Anyone have any input?
Both units seem pretty nice, and the price sure is right on the 'street' version, but the race version looks pretty cool too, although (more than) twice as much. Or should I just get some pillow ball mounts from Tein or Zeal? Can anyone recommend any other pillow ball / upper mounts?

No, like jet black. Peuter is like a gunmetalllic color.

If your suspension is hitting the bump stops, even with the AD shocks, buy the Street Mounts. If not, think about the race mounts for a future upgrade. If you haven't installed the shocks yet, wait till afterward & see if you are bottoming out.
Usually "Pillow Ball" mounts are made for Mc Phearson strut suspension. I haven't seen any for the EG/DC chassis (but I've never looked either)...
