Default Question: Pro's/Con's of running a "tight" tire/rim combo..

Lets say for example a 205 on an 8" rim.

I know you get a very nice turn-in, but are there any other pro's/con's?

b/c right now I have 225's on them and I rub if I zero out the camber + hard turn, and I'm pretty sure if I have 205's or even 215's I won't rub @ zero camber.

I think what you really want to know is by increasing the rim width will it decrese rollover allowing you to run zero camber while still maintaining a high traction limit.

and that really depends on your suspension and the tire

why on earth would you want 0* camber for road racing or autocross?

daily driver most likely

the real question is IMHO

why would you really base a setup to perform only during extreme tire rollover

Well its not really zero.. its just not as negative... real numbers are about -.082-0.84

I don't want to increase rim width, I want to decrease tire width and not to have to run excessive camber for the wheels to clear the fender/qtr panel.

The rims are 16x8 and 225's all around. It fits and runs fine as it is but I had to raise the car, and I don't like the 1" gap between the tire/fender.

So I want to know if I go down to 215's or 205's will I have just as good traction?

Any con's to running a setup like that?

Yes it is a daily driver.

I'm not basing it only on extreme tire rollover, that was just an example.

I'm looking for the pro's con's of the setup.

the cons would be excessive tread wear since your in effect pulling the tire constantly and a rough ride similar to 18's with a 35 series tire

why not just roll the fenders to gain more clearance?

I wouldn't want to take away traction.....

Fenders are rolled. 16x8 and a +38 offset.

I might just have to deal w/ the ride height.

Roll them some more. If that doesn't work, then cut and/ or flare them.

I'd want at least -1.5* camber up front, with the camber setting you have and some stretched tires you're gonna burn through the outside shoulders of your tires.
