Lately I have been experiencing a whining noise coming from inside the engine bay (near the pulleys and belts) when the car is not fully warmed up, once warmed up the noise goes away completely. Any idea what is causing this? The car had the timing belt and all accessory belts replaced less than 6 months ago, so I doubt that's the root of the problem. I appreciate any insight.

 

is it REALLY loud? does it get louder when u rev it at first?

It's loud enough so that I can hear it when I am sitting at a stop light but not when I am driving. It does not get any louder with increasing RPMs (revving the motor while stationary).

 

Anyone? To narrow down the noise, the sound is more of a chirp than a whine.

 

when was the last time you had the timing belt replaced?


also from where exactly in the engine bay is it coming from?

 

I would think that the belt needs to be adjusted. Whether loosened or tightened.

Just my guess.

 

you dont want more slack. you want them to be nice and snug

not too tight but not too loose.

but more towards tighter
