Realy weird problem!!!
Well this morning i go to start my car and it starts up strong and no problem. A few seconds later it dies real quick. I then lose power to everything. Lights wont come on, seat belt doesnt move etc. And now even with the key out of the ignition the oil light will be on, or when i tried disconnecting the battery and re connecting it then the check engine light will be on too. All without the key in. When i turn it nothing happens at all. I cant even get my lights to come on dim. All I know is the speedo is fucked up which i have a new luster comming. But that wouldnt make this happen being as i have been driving it the past week fine.
Also when im under the hood and i disconnect and reconnect the negative cable i hear a click from somwhere but not sure where. Think somewhere towards the driverside of the engine bay.
It has a new charged battery, whole charging system checked and i just checked all the fuses and there fine.

The ecu? ill try that. If it doesnt would that mean the ecu is bad?
But even if the ecu is bad wouldnt I be able to get power to my lights and auto seatbelts, etc.??

hey man i had the same problem, one day my car would not start and i wold not get any power, it ended up being that the main harness for the car ( not the engine harness) its the harness that goes from the right headlight, to under the hood, then through the firewall to the ecu, like the other guy said if the ecu light is not on then that harness has a short in it and it keeps blowing your ecu, i went through three ecu to figure this out.. try that and let me know what u found out
Well i just got it to start after it sat all night. But it was running crappy and when i turned to my headlights on it dies instantly. No sputtering. I guess i must have a short somwhere.
Has anyone every had to look for something like this or how to go about it?
I guess the ecu isnt blown since it did start again, but i still gotta check to see if the light goes in and out.

this is crazy the same exact thing happened to me. The car will still start but eventually the car will stop starting cause the short will eventually get so bad that it will just burn it right out. Im just saying be careful if i were you i would not drive it anymore untill you fix it.

Im not at all. It wont stay started long enough. lol Well this seem to happen when i;m pretty sure my alarm got fucked up. So i removed it. Which was spliced in under the driver side dash. But since all that this has been the problem. Im guess'n its part of the problem. Where was your short at???
LOL thats ****** weird thats when all of mine happened. Are you sure you dont have my car.Someone broke into my and literally snapped the steering column in half, when i got the new one we had to re hook up the harness and the alarm was hooked into the harness under the column, WHICH IS THE WORST SPOT TO PUT IT. That was one problem, The other was when the kid put the fenders on the car he pinched a wire and eventually it touched the metal and kept shorting out...
yeah ever since the battery cables got put on backward the a few fuses went but the alarm went haywire. And it was installed shitty as hell in the same way yours was. So i took it out last week and regrounded the fuse box and engine and put new cables on. was fine for a week till now.
