Its all about the lighting when taking night pics. If you had better lighting your pics would look a lot better. Im not sure what your settings are now..but when i take pics i have the resolution set at the highest setting, then resize them in Photoshop. When taking night pics you want to have your shutter speed set at the slowest setting (not exactly sure what yours would be). But next time i would suggest taking pics of the entire car instead of portions....and its a lot better to start off taking day pics when your learning how to take pics, especially with a camera your not familiar with. Do you have a tripod?

yes i have a tripod. I'm pretty sure those pics would have been awful otherwise
. I am using the highest resolution as well. I was also using very slow shutter speeds at night. The slowest mine goes is 15 seconds. I was shooting for a 0- (-2/3) exposure. I think the -2/3 looked alright on the camera, but when i uploaded the pics to the computer they looked a little dark.
Here are some other pics i took of my setup

Anybody got some other photography tips for me? What kind of exposures should I be shooting for in these kinds of situations?

It looks more like the white balance is fucked up on some of the yellowish/orange tinted pictures. Just mess around with the white balance a lot, thats what I've been doing. I just got an A95 a few weeks ago.
Go to this thread. these pics were taken in almost dark situations-
