changed my tranny fluid today and i did not feel any difference in shift feel, and this is the first time i have changed it (car has 33,000 miles)what type of noticeable differences do you guy's feel when you change your tranny fluid? cause i notice some of you change very often.
also any of you put the new fluid through the whole where the vehicle speed sensor goes? a friend of mine puts his through there and its a whole lot easier than putting it through the whole in the bottom

change it every 15000 . you will be glad you did at 120,000. oil every 3000

 

every other engine oil change

I changing mine for the fist time at 30,000. Didn't know you were supposed to change it more often.

 

do you guys find it that important to change your fluids i don't see the point to change it so often, maybe once a year or so...unless you guys drive the hell out of your R

 

I change my oil every two weeks or 2000 miles(whichever comes first)
and the trans fluid every other oil change.

And yes, i drive the **** out of my car.

 

i do mine every 15k too with honda mtf.....i have some redline sitting around though, might try it next change.

 

was just talking about this with 401-2001, i read him the helm and deterred him from doing it early, now i'm wondering if i shouldn't do it myself...

 

you would have to be luanching all the time or driving it at red line every time

 

redline at least 1st-3rd gears a few times a day
and my redline is 10000rpm. <evil grin>

-oil change
-trans fluid change
-distributor rotor
-spark plugs (inspect)

Every 9000 miles I do...

-coolant w/ Water Wetter
-distributor cap
-spark plug wires
-brake fluid

I guess you could call it extreme, but if you worked for Acura and the prices I get applied to you, I'm sure most of you would do the same.

And yes, I keep my old parts. (For those who think I am crazy for changing plug wires like underwear).. so if any of my friends ever need parts to throw a motor together, etc.. the parts are there.

 

how offen are do really need to change the distributor rotor? and how much is it

 

Check out the inside of your distributor for build-up... mine looked like crap at ~11K.

These intervals should be just fine. Gear oil does not wear out nearly as fast as engine oil. Also, if you're a good driver, you shouldn't have many particles after you get the tranny good and broken in.

 

tyres get changed, thats about it.

 

I was changing every 5k miles and then after opening up the tranny and seeing how dirty it was in there I'm going to be doing it per yack's suggestion.

I don't think the manual takes into account the amount of racing we put our cars through - even under the severe conditions recommendations.....

 

Does making it from Va to Toronto in 5 hours qualify as beating the ****? Or are thsoe "just highway miles"

I change mine whenever I get the urge to. What I really need to do is bleed out the clutch fluid. 40k and counting

So far tranny fluid has been changed 3 times, twice with honda mtf and now redline mtl.

 

around every 5000km (roughly 3000+ miles). much more than that and the LSD gets clunky and noisy. If you are using the stock LSD though, then it's not such a big deal
